Meet
Our Family
Hello, I’m Mike Owens. My wife, Angelia, and I own a horse farm in Strafford, MO, where I train and raise Missouri Foxtrotters. I have been fortunate to have shown many good horses. I am proud to say that our “barn” has produced several World Grand Champions of all ages. We have also had great success helping our youth and amateur customers win World Grand Champion titles. I have raised and trained Missouri Foxtrotters most of my life. Angelia enjoys her time in the barn taking care of the foals, and making sure all the horses are happy, healthy, and groomed. We both expend a lot of time and energy promoting the breed. Our training and breeding program are designed to preserve the foxtrot gait. I have served as President of the MFTHBA, Angelia currently serves on the National Association of Breeders board of directors, and our daughter, Sammie, serves on the Mid America Foxtrotting Horse Breed Associations board of directors. We welcome new faces, new horses, and new ideas. We invite you to call or stop by the barn at any time.
I would like to introduce you to our daughters, Sammie and Loryn
Hi, I’m Sammie, I’m 21 years old and attend Missouri State University. I started riding quarter horses when I was 6. I rode my first Missouri Foxtrotter at the age of 11 and it happened to be Missouri’s Bobbie Sue….one of the best mares in our breed at the time. My Aunt owned her….how lucky is that? Needless to say I was hooked. I won the Youth World Grand Champion at the age of 14 on my mare, Corkey Lee A. we also won the Amateur Senior World Grand Champion the next year. I have to admit that I still have a love for quarter horses. I run to a rodeo to barrel race every chance I get. My sister, Loryn, and I have the best of both worlds. We ride and raise both; Missouri Foxtrotters and Quarter horses!
Hey…..my name is Loryn and I’m 15. I had the best year ever!!!! I won the youth World Grand Champion on my Missouri Foxtrotter and qualified to go to Nationals on my quarter horse. I don’t know how to top all that……but I’m going to try. I attend Strafford High school as a sophomore. Another passion of mine is basketball. I’m the point guard on the varsity team, as you can imagine it gets really hectic during basketball season, sometimes my horses have to take a back seat. But, as soon as season is over…..I’m on a horse! As I said, I’m 15, which means I turn 16 this year, so not only will I be riding horses this summer…..I’ll be practicing my driving skills! |
